Report of the Executive Committee of the Yellow Fever National Relief Commission, 1879

Moved by reports of suffering in Memphis and other Southern cities during a yellow fever epidemic in 1878, citizens in Washington, DC organized the Yellow Fever National Relief Commission. In addition to raising funds and collecting supplies, the commission worked with government agencies to deliver needed supplies and pay for nurses to deliver care.
