In 1990, the Alliance to End Childhood Lead Poisoning was formed by health professionals, environmentalists, housing officials, and civil rights workers. Alongside the Texas State Health Department, the Alliance created this booklet to educate physicians and health care providers on methods of preventing childhood lead poisoning, such as screening, diagnosing, and treating patients.
