Now string's put fast on tooth that aches, 1773

English caricaturist John Collier, sometimes known by the pseudonym of Tim Bobbin, created this cartoon showing a man attempting an extraction by tying a string to a patient's tooth and having him step away from a hot coal being thrust upon his face.
