Statement of Leonidas H. Berry, MD, Addendum, Fight Against Narcotic Addiction

With his “Berry Plan,” Berry pioneered a medical approach to narcotics control. He won appropriations from the State of Illinois for clinics at three major hospitals in Chicago. The clinics provided preventive education programs to young people at risk, and follow-up care for addicts receiving treatment.
