Letter from Leonidas H. Berry to Wilbur Cohen about enforcing civil rights laws in Medicare hospitals
Leonidas H. Berry’s expression of National Medical Association support for Medicare led to an invitation to dinner at the White House, as well as a meeting with Wilbur Cohen, undersecretary of the US Department of Health, Education and Welfare, and other officials. Berry proposed that hospitals joining the Medicare program be required to post signs in their waiting rooms "quoting the civil-rights law."
