Letter from Lynn A. Ferguson, MD, Grand Rapids, Michigan, American College of Gastroenterology,

to Leonidas H. Berry, noting that two to three African American doctors and African American interns were not served at a meeting nor given lodging, and discussing his personal thoughts on ways to go about making gains and changes -- not by being "vindictive," not boycotts, but that one gain favor by "being understanding and cooperative and -- above all -- humble even though it may take two to three generations to accomplish the ultimate end"; hoping Berry will not let his membership hinge on "that sort of things, because that attitude is juvenile"
