Nurses working for the Henry Street Visiting Nurse Service in New York City took these snapshots, which show their lives and the lives of the families they cared for in the 1930s.

Nurses from the Henry Street Visiting Nurse Service followed-up with new mothers to provide postpartum care and assistance with new born care. Nurses shared instruction on babies’ baths to encourage proper hygiene and prevent accidents.
