Nurses working for the Henry Street Visiting Nurse Service in New York City took these snapshots, which show their lives and the lives of the families they cared for in the 1930s.
“Patrick comes to our office after school for hypodermics ordered by New York Hospital. He is being treated for a gland condition, and has improved greatly since we first knew him.”
Gun Hill Center visiting nurses sometimes formed friendships with the families for whom they provided care including Patrick who visited the nurses’ office.
