For Shelter and Beyond: An Educational Manual for Working With Women Who Are Battered, 1981
A statewide committee of authors collaboratively produced this educational manual for communities and groups in Massachusetts that were working with women who had been battered. Written to "fill a gap" in the training of new volunteers at battered women's programs, the manual addressed factors of race, poverty, culture, and sexual orientation in dealing with abuse and violence, as well as mental health, parenting, legal concerns, and social problems that often present alongside the safety and medical issues of women who were battered.
