"Meet the Graduates: Daniel Sheridan," News Rounds, 1982

Recent nursing school graduate Daniel Sheridan, 27-years-old at the time, was profiled in an article featuring three graduates from Rush University's class of 1982 (Commencement, pp. 10–11). The article described how Sheridan's feminist views led him to co-create the Rush Coalition Against Spouse Abuse while still a nursing student, and the early work of the coalition. Under Sheridan's leadership, the coalition provided in-service training for medical professionals to appropriately work with patients who were injured by intimate partners; produced wallet-sized referral cards to distribute to women in abusive relationships; and developed emergency room guidelines to identify, treat, and refer patients who were battered for other support services. "I'd like to see medical centers around the country make reducing domestic violence a priority," he stated.
