The Natural History of Pliny, 1855
Gaius Plinius Secundus, known as Pliny the Elder, a Roman scholar and natural philosopher, compiled this extensive study of the natural world into the first known encyclopedia, Naturalis Historia or Natural History. Thirty-seven books are organized into six volumes for this 1855 edition. They describe nature, agriculture, weather, planets and stars, the history of man, and the growth of the arts.
