Liber de arte distillandi de compositis..., 1512
Hieronymus Brunschwig's Liber de arte Distillandi de Compositis…, first printed in 1507, is one of the earliest manuals on pharmacology, a branch of medicine involved with the chemistry, uses, and effects of drugs. The book contains a number of color woodcuts illustrating various types of distillation stills and furnaces, tools such as beakers, and techniques and arrangements used to create medicinal mixtures. The book also includes a medical "thesaurus pauperum," a guide widely used by the poor to create inexpensive medicines.
