    Centenary of District Nursing
On 17 February 1885 a meeting was held at the home of Mrs. William McCulloch in Spring Street, Melbourne, convened by Dr. Charles Strong. The meeting was held to discuss the need for an organised system of nursing care for the sick poor in their own homes. Home nursing services were subsequently formed in other states of Australia and a national co-ordinating body was set up in 1969.
