Letter from F. J. L. Blasingame, MD, executive vice president, American Medical Association,

Chicago, Illinois, to Leonidas H. Berry, congratulating him on the completion of his year as president of the NMA, stating that some progress has been made regarding racial discrimination in medicine, but that the status of African American physicians cannot be consistently improved by downgrading and damaging the AMA, real progress cannot be made by allowing personal feelings to dominate and govern tactics; dangerous racial tensions are building up in groups outside of medicine, explosive dimensions of these pent up feelings must be handled carefully by all responsible citizens; enclosing New York Times article that may be thought provoking
