Working on Wife Abuse, 1978

Betsy Warrior was a radical organizer of the women's liberation and battered women's movements. Her Working On Wife Abuse, printed seven times in three years, was the first international directory of individuals and programs advocating for women who were battered. Primarily a directory of women's shelters, Working on Wife Abuse included an introductory essay about the history of the shelter movement and the challenges advocates faced when working with women who had been battered. Warrior credited the names in the directory with "millions of hours of womanpower spent in an effort to expose and combat the physical and psychological terror women are threatened with and exposed to daily."
