Battering and the Indian Woman, 1980

This chapter from a larger training manual on working with women who had been battered, described the history and culture of Native peoples in North America, identifying cultural differences, racism, and oppression as factors that influence the lives of Native women—battered or not. The chapter included a first-person account of a Native woman's experiences working with white women colleagues and residents in a Minnesota women's shelter.
