A Supplement to Physical Enquiries, 1742
John Tennent describes his discovery of effective use of the rattle-snake root for treating pleurisy and other ailments. In his writing, Tennent states that "the annual epidemic disease of America, and the plague in Turkey, are analogous." Then the author details his work in both Virginia and the West Indies in treating pleurisy and other disease successfully with the root. He includes in this supplement letters of endorsement and testimonials by officials and physicians in Virginia prior to returning to the Great Britain in 1737.
