Catalogue of the British, medicinal, culinary, and agricultural plants, cultivated in the London botanic garden, 1783

William Curtis (1746­–1799), an English botanist and entomologist, began work as an apothecary before turning to botany and natural history. In this short work he offers a complete list of British plants, arranged according to the month of flowering. Plants found in the London environs—more than seven hundred species—are distinguished by the letter "L."
